Toilet grinder how it works
If you want to install a bathroom in a basement, attic, motorhome, or another location where there is no plumbing, what you need is a toilet macerator. The toilet macerator works as follows:
- When you flush the toilet, the tank empties, the water level rises inside the toilet tank, and this pressure causes the grinder motor to activate.
- This grinder has blades that break down the toilet waste into small particles in a matter of seconds.
- The water and particles form a liquid that is pumped, thanks to a turbine, to the drainage pipe.

Do I really need a grinder or a macerating pump?
The evacuation pump is more suitable for gray water, which comes from the shower, bidet, or sink. For this reason, if it is a room without a toilet, an evacuation pump would be sufficient.
How many toilets will there be?
The grinder we purchase should have as many inlets as there are sanitary fixtures in that space.
- Only toilet: we can choose a one-inlet grinder or a compact model that includes a toilet and grinder. The outlet always has to be horizontal.
